What you feel when frightened

Living with fear and phobias can feel like carrying an invisible barrier that keeps you from fully enjoying life. Whether it's an intense fear of death, of heights, the sight of a spider, or going to the dentist, these fears aren’t just minor worries—they can be overpowering and often feel insurmountable.

It's not uncommon to feel alone in these struggles, as if others can't possibly understand the depth of panic and anxiety you experience. You might find yourself constantly on guard, avoiding situations that most people consider normal.

This isn't just about feeling nervous; it’s about experiencing real terror over possibilities that seem unlikely to others but feel all too real to you. It’s hard when your mind can’t differentiate what’s possible from what’s probable, making everyday scenarios feel full of dangers.

How does fear work?

Phobias and intense fears often arise from an emotional response, often learned early in our childhood, that becomes deeply ingrained in the brain’s fear circuits, particularly within the amygdala and other neuroceptive processes.

This area of the brain is crucial for processing emotional reactions, and when overstimulated, can lead to an automatic and exaggerated fear response.

Hypnotherapy for phobia

Can hypnosis help with phobias?

Yes, at NeuroDapt, I work hypnotherapy and strategic psychotherapy to reprogram the fear responses in the brain.

By leveraging the neuroplasticity of your brain, we can modify how it reacts to fear-inducing situations.

Hypnotherapy allows us to access the unconscious mind, where many of these deep-seated fears reside, and to introduce new, healthier responses to previously fear-inducing stimuli.

NLP techniques help reconstruct the cognitive assessment of threats, helping you re-evaluate and realistically assess potential dangers, which reduces the intensity of the fear response.
